Founded on one idea: strong roots make strong communities.
The Alma-Westville Community Program began in August 2025, formed to meet an immediate community need — and to keep growing from there.
The Alma–Westville Community Program Society, operating as the Alma-Westville Community Program (AWCP), is a grassroots, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community wellbeing across Pictou County. Founded in August 2025 on the belief that everyone deserves access to essential resources and opportunities, AWCP works to address local needs through inclusive, community-centered initiatives.
At its core, AWCP focuses on improving access to food, education, and support services while fostering a sense of connection and belonging. Through programs, partnerships, and outreach, the organization aims to reduce barriers that prevent individuals and families from thriving, particularly those facing social and economic challenges.
AWCP is built on the values of equity, collaboration, and empowerment. By working closely with community members, local organizations, and volunteers, the program creates spaces where people feel supported, heard, and valued. Whether through direct service, advocacy, or community programming, AWCP is committed to creating sustainable, meaningful impact.
Driven by a passionate leadership team and a growing network of volunteers, AWCP continues to evolve in response to the needs of the community it serves. The organization remains grounded in a simple but powerful mission: to build a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
